This is a short one, I heard on the news that Senator Robert Dole had passed, he was 98, he died peacefully in his sleep. Unknown to most people, Senator Bob Dole was responsible for inviting Eazy E to the white house, it was a Republican fundraiser held by President HW Bush, with one plate of food costing $2500 to $4000. He got the invitation and attended the event with his lawyer, Mr. Jerry Heller. It was unheard of that a Republican President such as George HW Bush would invite a rapper like Eazy E to the white house. In those times Eazy E was having a “disagreement” with Ice Cube, and other rappers. Ice Cube made mention of this in his song ” No Vaseline”.I never have dinner with the president “. Again Unknown to most people it wasn’t President Barack Obama who started inviting rappers to the white house it was actually President George H.W. Bush.
Some sources say he was invited by mistake, I disagree with that because if he was invited by mistake they could have gone into damage control and turned him away at the door. There was time for them to crosscheck and double-check who was on the invitation list, they have secret service, they had all the resources at their disposal. I personally do not think it was a mistake. Every now and then it seems to surprise us,(especially black people ) that two people of opposing views can become friends, or even sit to have a conversation without a media frenzy!
Take the case of John McCain and Larry Fitzgerald, A lot of people did not know they were friends. Their friendship run so deep that McCain came to watch his games, and they visited each other at home. Most people did not know this. Mr. Fitzgerald even spoke at McCain’s funeral with a few jokes about how odd their friendship was.
Maybe we all can learn from this!!!
