Now correct me if I’m wrong , but the usual will happen. First there is the protest, then the family will put up a gofundme, Ben Crump will move swiftly to settle the case. The president will call the family and even invite them to the white house, and here comes Ben Crump’s favorite part, The City/State will pay out a lump sum usually in the millions. Then everyone will go about their daily  lives like nothing happened. Does this sound familiar?

Its almost as if we want these things to happen so we get a big pay out. These settlements are tax payers money. I don’t know who we think we are punishing by taking this money? the white man ? white supremacy?  the Police ? the state ? we have to learn that you cannot punish an entity or  an institution, you can punish individuals though,  sure a few individuals will go to jail but the system remains the same.  let us remember this is not money from wall street, not money from big pharma, not money from big tech , not money from corporations, basically its not money from institution that systematically oppressed black people.  I will say it again , it is tax payers money.

This simply means money from some resource will have to be diverted to pay for this,  some family will be become very rich . These states are usually impoverished and yet somehow we will squeeze out millions just to give to one family as if to say it will bring their family back. lets take a look at some numbers shall we

  1. Tamir Rice $6 Million
  2. Freddie Gray $6.4 Million
  3. Laquan Mcdonald $5 Million
  4. Eric Garner-$5.9 Million
  5. Sandra Bland-$1.9 Million
  6. Mike Brown-$1.5 Million
  7. Trayvon Martin $1 Million ( undisclosed)
  8. Philando Castile  $3Million
  9. Sean Bell-$7 million
  10. Koryn Gaines (was supposed to $32 Million but a settlement was reached for $3 million)
  11. Alton Sterling $3 million
  12. Oscar Grant $1.5 million
  13. George Floyd $27 Million
  14. Breonna Taylor $12 Million

Yes brothers and sisters , $88 Million and counting , let us not forget, black lives matter founder Patrice Cullors became a millionaire by starting an organization for activism. Black lives matter got more than $90 million. Yes they got more money than the sum total of what the Victims got. Let us not forget Rodney King who was awarded $3.8 Million  who died of a drug overdose

Brothers and sisters, it is getting to a point where the difficult question has to be asked

Do We really want Justice ? Or a Pay out ????

What is really going on ? http://selfequanimity.com/what-is-really-going-on/ http://selfequanimity.com/what-is-really-going-on/#comments Sun, 29 Jan 2023 21:24:41 +0000 https://selfequanimity.com/?p=1947 I’m sure everyone has heard about the unarmed black man by the name of Tyre Nichols who was severely beaten by 5 black police officers.  People are protesting now as we speak.  This has an interesting twist to it, the twist is that everyone involved in this was black.  I’m not here to judge, but everyone knows that they (the police officers) were too harsh on this individual.  I’m sure most people have seen the body cam footage. I don’t think the intent was to kill him. In the video, there was a white officer who initially tased  Mr. Nichols, but he didn’t partake in the brutal beating of Mr. Nichols. He died a few days later in the hospital.  This whole situation is a sad one, but I’m here to ask questions.

Tyre Nichols

What is this, Police brutality?  I don’t know if anyone can qualify this as white supremacy or is it?. we have to keep in mind that everyone who was responsible for brutally beating Mr. Nichols is black.  Wasn’t the argument made that we will be better off policing our own people? what happened ?? Let us not forget that 2 of the 5 police officers who shot and killed Sean Bell in 2006 were Black. 2 of the 5 police officers who were responsible for the death of Freddie Gray were also black. 58% of the police force in Memphis are black. I don’t know about anyone but what’s worse in this crazy world is dying at the hands of our own people. Maybe it is time we start looking at black-on-black crime, and black-on-black killing,  after all, most of the rappers if not all of the rappers have been killed by black people.

These police officers belong to a unit known as the S-C-O-R-P-I-O-N unit. (Street Crimes Operations to Restore Peace in Our Neighborhoods )and they are deployed to high-crime areas. That unit has been dissolved.

Another very important question, this is a controversial one, if people really believe that some communities are over-policed, then we should question the people responsible for that, in this case, it is none other than our current president Joe Biden, people should have read the 1994 crime bill and every bill he helped pass or passed during his time in the Senate. Why aren’t people asking him to fix the problem he created?  I don’t believe this is a no justice, no peace situation, because the justice system was swift to fire them and charge them with second-degree murder.

The only thing I will say to this is that maybe it is time for us to look at the mental state of individuals before hiring them as police officers, regardless of race. After all, we are all trying to live as long as we can in this world!

Police Brutality or systemic racism? http://selfequanimity.com/police-brutality-or-systemic-racism/ http://selfequanimity.com/police-brutality-or-systemic-racism/#respond Thu, 18 Jun 2020 05:49:29 +0000 http://selfequanimity.com/?p=559 This is an interesting topic, according to popular opinion or belief, systemic racism and police brutality go hand in hand, but do they really???  Would everything be better if “WE” as black people were policing our own neighborhoods?  In Washington DC most police officers are black, but they still have cases of police brutality, I don’t think as a society we can fight systemic racism through the police department. Are police racist sometimes, YES, but there are racist elements in all aspects of our society.

I will define police brutality as the unnecessary use of deadly force, while systemic racism is a belief in racial superiority thereby creating a system that allows individuals of a particular race to always get ahead.  To me, the two are not interchangeable. this is why I believe that the whole protest was a fallacy or an excuse to riot, and get stuff for free.  Let’s look at some alarming statistics since there is almost no outcry for black on black crime and killing.

  • Blacks are only 13% of the population
  • 50% of all homicide victims are black
  • This means 3% commits 50 % of the nation’s homicides

Black lives are supposed to matter but there were no marches, no outrage, nothing at all, Anything passed 50 % is too much. Black lives matter only when “we,” say it does,  and we can say its system racism, and people will just believe it.

Freddie Gray
Freddie Gray

This is how to debunk systemic racism, we should look at a particular area,  and look at how many black people are in positions of power and authority in that area,  basic math works, accountability works.  If there are more black people in positions of power in that area, it is not systemic racism, just like in the case of Freddie Gray in Baltimore,  to start with that case, what were the people protesting? police brutality or systemic racism?  Systemic racism is not possible because in Baltimore most people who are in positions of power, ( especially at that time) were black. 3 of the officers who were accused and even the state attorney was black, not to mention that happened under a black president, it cant be police brutality,

Barack Obama

In the case of Sean Bell, 2 of the police officer were black.  I’m not saying that these killings are justified, I’m saying that it couldn’t be systemic racism when people in authority were black,  I’m sure there will be people who will say hey, well Trump is a racist and he doesn’t really want to do anything about it, well here is the thing though if that was true, all the officers would have been prosecuted under a black president, it didn’t happen.

Sean Bell

What about child support though, isn’t it systemic discrimination against men ???  The numbers are very disturbing.  This is very quiet but child support. if you are behind on child support, you might end up in jail, they may take your drivers license, etc,  That has crippled that black community for years, yet no one talk about that, if black lives really matter, look at the way we are throwing the system at ourselves. We are the first ones to call the system when we have a problem.  It is funny that today we are talking about defunding the police.

Police Brutality and systemic racism are catchphrases that the media uses to get people to act a certain way. I don’t think we as people should pay attention to that, the media is in business to make money, so they will benefit from this. I think we need more practical ideas and not catchphrases. If we do catchphrases we won’t be able to solve anything.
