They are human like all of us . These days the focus has shifted and being an immigrant can almost be dangerous as a matter of fact if one does not think critically, one might fall into the trap of just a “follower” for no reason.

in this video, this man said ” if you come to America as an immigrant, you are classified as white and given resources, black folks in  America get nothing”. This is a blanket statement and very dangerous.   In this political and emotional climate of the present day, saying something like this without clarifying who and what he is talking about can send the wrong message. To be fair to him, I have seen different races being classified as white, so there is some truth to what he is saying, but we have to be careful.  if a statement like this is made then certain questions should be answered like

  1. Which immigrant are they talking about ???? and from which country of origin???
  2. Are Black immigrants also classified as white ??
  3. Where is the proof that “ALL” immigrants get access to resources??? (I know a couple of immigrants who are willing to split their resources with anyone who can show them where to get their resources, secret bank, safety deposit box, etc)

He should have qualified what he said with specifics, which immigrants get what …and also some proof that this is actually happening.  “They” get access to resources is quite general.

To is not to say racism, wealth inequality, etc. doesn’t exist, but this is to throw light on the growing trend and making the same mistakes that have been made,  putting all immigrants in one group and saying that they get access to resources as they go to some secret meeting where they are given “stuff” is just a false fallacy and blanket statements like that can be dangerous. Our educated “class” should be careful.

Student Loans forgiven, Now we all can be rich!!! https://selfequanimity.com/student-loans-forgiven-now-we-all-can-be-rich/ https://selfequanimity.com/student-loans-forgiven-now-we-all-can-be-rich/#respond Wed, 21 Sep 2022 03:28:06 +0000 https://selfequanimity.com/?p=1883 Man!  That Biden ,he is just a good guy and feels for the common man doesn’t he ???? He is the best president since Barack Obama!!!, the closest we can get to a third Obama term. He has forgiven student loans up to $10,000. If your loans are only up to $10,000 then you are completely in debt FREE!!!!. WHAT AN HONORABLE GESTURE!!!!! it will cost $300 billion while we have $1.6 trillion in student loan debt.

Hmmmmmm not so fast, there are many moving parts to this. First and foremost, we are not asking how long this loan forgiveness is for?,  is it for new borrowers???. If we are honest with ourselves we should be asking how we even got here in the first place and what we can do to solve and prevent future generations from suffering a similar fate.

The economy is an interesting one, there are good sides to it like any economy, before we understand what is going on we need to consider history.  To start with, the loan industry is made up of bubbles, and as time goes on bubbles do burst.

Once upon a time, you could pay for college with a part-time job,  college wasn’t that expensive and with a little discipline, that dream could be achieved. This started a long time ago. Well, some say it was during Ronald Reagan’s era others say it was earlier than that,  as far back as world war 2, but all of the politicians from the 50s have contributed to high college tuition costs. This was all due to  Certain policies that were put in place even   Barack Obama put in a few policies of his own a few years ago.  This all started with the best of intentions I must say, well Russia had just launched something into space, and there was competition, America needed to educate its population,  This was in the time of Dwight Eisenhower,  So in order to have a more educated population than the Russians, in order to beat them at the space race, the National Defense Education Act was enacted in 1958 and that was the beginning of all this.  As time went on there was the Higher  Education Act of 1965  which freed up more money for higher education. By 1970 more people went to college than ever before, but like I said before it was the beginning of all this student loan madness that we have today. The long and short of it is once the college loan industry was in full swing tuition costs rose up because of course anyone can borrow the money and go to school, so colleges say hey even if we charge more anyone can borrow the money, that is what loans are for ….. because of this and other sources of revenue colleges have large endowments funds which are managed by hedge funds managers.  interesting .  Now for time purposes, i will summarize a few things about how we got here. Most people don’t remember 4 presidents ago so ill start with Obama,  According to Mr. Obama, he didn’t want to stand with the banks so he cut out the banks allowing the department of education to become the largest creditor/Bank then outsourcing most of the work to private companies. Wow who could have seen this disaster coming huh???

Well so this is a brief history of how we got into this mess, so if this systemic structure is not fixed, well the loan forgiveness would mean a bandaid on a problem that goes deeper than a mere blister. This may surprise a few people but we have 9  presidents who never went to college,

George Washington,

Andrew Jackson,

Martin Van Buren,

Zachary Taylor,

Millard Fillmore,

Abraham Lincoln,

Andrew Johnson,

Grover Cleveland,

Harry Truman.

Also some of these schools have large endowment funds, so I would say the schools can make more scholarships to students can’t they? $300 billion will come from taxpayers…. while their endowment funds are intact, Harvard alone has over $50 billion dollars in assets….. and it is under management, like a hedge fund …. Interesting!!!!!

The Problem with the Information Age https://selfequanimity.com/the-problem-with-the-information-age/ https://selfequanimity.com/the-problem-with-the-information-age/#comments Tue, 20 Sep 2022 23:05:14 +0000 https://selfequanimity.com/?p=1880 It never ceases to amaze me how far we would go to discredit certain things, especially what we do not agree with. Certain things are not a conspiracy, they are what they are.  We claim we are in the information age, and we can look up anything, yet we are always intrigued by an individual who would tell us about the conspiracy then we will pay this Individual to tell us something that we claim we can look up.

To say we are in the information age is a little problematic because the information has always been around. We had libraries, well we still have libraries……. It is just that the way information gets to us now is different, and faster,  we can have access to information at the speed of light, but this has also made us lazy to a point.

Well, let’s look at this from another point of view, in the late ’90s and 2000s, the internet became very common,. so it gave us access to information with lightning speed, for example, we don’t have to buy encyclopedias and arrange them in alphabetical order. We can just type in a few strokes and you have the information you are looking for. That being said the explosion of the internet made everyone an expert, suddenly everyone knows everything simply because they can look it up. People got lazy because people don’t conduct research anymore, The internet became a gospel, as wonderful as the internet is, there is a downside to it, especially youtube.

Youtube is a wonderful tool, and we all can learn a  lot, knowledge has become decentralized, and we all have learned something on youtube, (usually something we didn’t know before), and I for one support the decentralization and sharing of knowledge, the part where everyone has become some sort of expert is a little disturbing or certain people who have cult-like following even though what they are saying cannot authenticated, or even proven anywhere., we have people thinking more information makes people more intelligent, that is partially true because it always depends on what one is learning,  for example, if I have to fix something and have no idea on how to do it, I look on youtube and there is a video of how to do it, I have learned a new skill, but if someone says he has proof that the earth is flat, and then try to prove his point but regurgitating something he or she believed on the internet, that can be dangerous.  The interesting thing is that me learning how to fix something is practical knowledge, I can watch step by step how this person did what they did, it is not theory, I’m watching knowledge being applied but as mentioned above, how does anyone prove the earth is flat or the moon landing was fake, or going to space is impossible ??????

To conclude this I think one of the skills we need to teach is how to learn, and how to conduct research, and the difference between both,  we also need to learn how to think critically about any new information we get, for example, back in the day a person needs to be alone with their thoughts in order to write poetry, a new song, a story, etc. To practice how to meditate and focus, we need to concentrate,  I think we need a little bit of that these days,  As the saying goes too much of everything is bad! we have all the information now, we should learn how to learn, and not follow blindly believe it or not learning is a skill.

These days people confuse information for intelligence which is very dangerous!!!!!!

The heart of Man https://selfequanimity.com/the-heart-of-man/ https://selfequanimity.com/the-heart-of-man/#respond Wed, 13 Jul 2022 05:25:19 +0000 https://selfequanimity.com/?p=1845 This should be an interesting one!  When I was a young boy, when my curiosity was at its peak, I questioned a few things, things that took time to understand. I knew that but I questioned these things anyway. Most people are introduced to religion by their parents, and I was no exception to that.  We read the bible at school, and church, and whenever we got the chance to, I was taught about Jesus the one called the Christ, An interesting question was if Jesus was all these good things why did people conspire to kill him, Oh make no mistake my brothers, Jesus was put sentenced to death because his own people conspired against him. He knew this but he also knew the nature of man!. For a long time, I questioned this, it was not until later in life that I found the answer.  I did not have to look far, but what we do to each other today. The “backbiting” the hatred against one another, the greed, the selfishness. The funny thing about this is that most people will deny these things. This is why certain shows on TV thrive because it goes not only expose the nature of man but how man has built a culture around these very same ideas that he claims are wrong. Even in those days, Jesus told Peter, “you will deny me”, instead of Peter speaking the truth and saying, “Hey those soldiers can kill me, ” he lied and said he would never do such a thing,  when we go to church we are told that the fact that Peter was sorry makes it ok, but I say the fact that he did this makes me question human nature. Is almost as if we love to do evil,  the truth is, evil towards our fellow man can be bad but if we really believed in actions and punishment, No one would do it.  We even have a term called  necessary evil. which makes sense. If anyone has heard about the frog and the scorpion, That story talks about nature itself. So I ask the question? Are we evil by nature? Someone said ” We must admit there is a certain good feeling that comes with doing evil, were it not so no one would do evil” Go to church on Sunday, and you will find people who claim if Jesus walked amongst us, they will never do what was done to him back then, but we all have to ask ourselves this question, How many of us have been double-crossed, betrayed, stolen from, etc? I leave this question to you, my brothers and sisters!  Are we Evil by nature?

Freedom is coming !!! https://selfequanimity.com/1835-2/ https://selfequanimity.com/1835-2/#respond Wed, 22 Jun 2022 06:00:18 +0000 https://selfequanimity.com/?p=1835 Well, we are told about the history and the significance of Juneteenth, I don’t know what to make of it but it seems to me that some people don’t want black people to forget about slavery so they can throw crumbs off their table and say look at what we have done for you,(not that slavery should be forgotten about) sure Juneteenth is now a holiday, is not like they say oh every black person should just take a day off, nope it’s a holiday where people have to work because they can’t make ends meet.   Are holidays all we want ???? I always caution black people we should be careful about who we support, sometimes are enemies look just like us. We are supposed to be very happy about the holiday we just got, much like Martin Luther King day and all other days that have no significance to us, even though we are told they are about us.

We don’t even seem to realize when the economy goes bad, it is our people who suffer more than any other race,  I don’t hear anything about “feel good” Biden anymore. He is not racist I suppose,  the funny thing is that father’s day happens to fall on the same day as the Holiday we were given.  This is the president who has separated more black fathers from their families, than Trump will ever separate at the border, yet we only seem to remember that Trump was a racist. He wrote laws to criminalize crack the cheap version of cocaine thereby locking up a lot of black men. I don’t see why people don’t see the irony here, we are celebrating fathers day on Juneteenth, which is supposed to be about freedom from a president who locked up more black men and took them away from their families than any other president in history. I don’t see how people don’t get this!!!!

The Last Soldier (1924-2019) https://selfequanimity.com/the-last-soldier/ https://selfequanimity.com/the-last-soldier/#respond Wed, 22 Jun 2022 03:47:53 +0000 https://selfequanimity.com/?p=1829 Robert Mugabe was a very complex leader, we will dive deeper into his life and career as a politician and president of zimbabwe in another post, for now, I’m just going to post some of the wise sayings of   Robert Mugabe who I classify as the last soldier.

  1. ” If you are ugly, you are ugly stop talking about inner beauty, we don’t walk around with X-Rays”
  2. “Nothing makes a woman more confused than a broke man who is extremely good in bed”
  3. ” it’s better for a man to be stingy with his money because he hustled for it than a woman deny you a hole she didn’t drill”
  4. “No girl will choose six-pack over six cars, stop going to the gym and work”
  5. ” Africans have no time to rest, even after death they have to work as ancestors”
  6. ” It’s hard to bewitch African girls these days, each time you take a piece from her hair to a witch doctor, either a Brazilian innocent woman gets mad or a factory in China catches fire”
  7. ” If you can shave your eyebrows completely and redraw them with an eye pencil, don’t ask for money to do your hair, you can equally shave your head bald and draw the weave of your choice”
  8. ” At least I left my people with land, Mandela left his with poems, quotes, and a statue”
  9. ” You cannot give a woman everything she needs, if God himself gave them eyebrows, they shave it and draw their own, God gave them nails, they cut if off and fix their own, he gave them breast, they repackage it to what they want, God still gave them buttocks, they arrange it to the size they want, if even God can’t satisfy them, then who are you to think that you can please them? My brother don’t kill yourself”
  10. “Virginity is the best wedding gift any man would receive from his newly wedded wife, but lately, there is nothing like that any longer because it has been given out as a birthday gift, token of appreciation, job assurance, church collection, taxi fare”.
  11. “King Solomon had 700 wives and cheated on them with 300 concubines, and God still loved him, your husband cheats on you with one woman and we can’t have peace, My sister, keep calm and read the bible”.
  12. The distance between Egypt and Israel is about 613 Km(380 miles)but it took Moses and the Israelites 40 years to complete their journey. On average each day they walked 43 meters, yes 43 meters, almost half of what Usain Bolt does in 5 seconds, I just wish Moses was around to explain his laziness”
  13. “Racism will never end as long as white cars are still using black tires, Racism will never end if people still use black to symbolize bad luck and white for peace, Racism will never end if people still white clothes for weddings and black clothes for funerals, Racism will never end as  long as those who don’t pay their bills are blacklisted not whitelisted, even when playing snooker, you haven’t won until you’ve sunk the black ball and white ball must remain on the table, but I don’t care as long as I’m still using white toilet paper to wipe my black butt I’m fine”
  14. ” South Africans will kick down a statue of a dead white man, but won’t attempt to slap a live one, yet they stone to death a black man simply because he is a foreigner”
  15. “Don’t take relationship advice from your mother if you don’t know your father”
  16. “Any man who successfully convinces a monkey that honey is sweeter than a banana is capable of selling condoms to a Roman father”.
  17. “Whenever things seem to start going well in your life, the Devil comes along and gives you a ‘girlfriend’.”
  18. “Help a girl when she is in trouble and she will surely remember you when she is in trouble again!”
  19. “All I hear always is, ‘No sex before marriage?’ If that was God’s plan, then you would receive your penis or vagina on your wedding day”
  20. “I stopped trusting women when my third-grade girlfriend left me for another boy all because he bought a sharpener with a mirror”

These are 20 quotes from Robert Mugabe that I found to be very funny yet thought-provoking. Robert Mugabe asked a very interesting question to a journalist who wasn’t able to answer him. This was in 2013 when he was 89 years old.

Reporter:  Sir, don’t you think 89 years old will be a great time to retire as president?

Robert Mugabe: Have you ever asked the Queen this question or is it just for African leaders ???

This piece is dedicated to my brother, he knows who he is!!!
